- This file is for JVC digital audio player XA-HD500 firmware Ver.1.074.
* Exclusively for XA-HD500. Do not use for other models as it may cause malfunction.
* Check the firmware version before downloading.
Can be checked at "Product Information" → "Firmware Information" under the setting menu of the main unit.

Precautions before update
- When updating firmware using "XA-HD500 update data", do not press RESET button. If initialized, all data recorded in the player will be erased. In addition, it is recommended to make a data backup to PC and the like before update as the data may be lost during update.
- Stop antivirus program and resident program.
- Do not launch other music software.
- If there are other USB devices, disconnect their cables.
Update procedures
[Update data setting within PC]
- Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.
An unzipped folder "xahd500-update-1074" will be created on desktop.
- Click "Start"-"Program"(or All Programs)-"Victor"-"XA-HD500"-"Updater" from the taskbar to launch "XA-HD500 update data".
- From the unzipped folder, drag & drop "FLASH.enc" file onto "XA-HD500 update data". On "XA-HD500 update data" screen, check that "Update version" is set to 1.074.
[Update of main unit]
- By updating, the bookmark may return to the previous setting or may be lost.
Perform the followings if bookmark is in use:
- By adding or changing the bookmark (any song), the bookmark file will be saved (maintained).
- Connect the main unit to PC. (Wait shortly until the main unit is recognized)
The main unit version will be displayed on "Device version" of "XA-HD500 update data" screen.
When the "Update" button is enabled after the version has been checked, click "Update" button to start the update.
- When the update is successful, a confirmation dialog will pop up.
The update is completed normally if "Device version" is set to 1.074 on "XA-HD500 update data" screen.
